What: 41st Annual Sunfest

Known as Ocean City, Maryland’s biggest and best festival, the four-day Sunfest event will kick off in the resort town on Sept. 24 with delicious food, arts and crafts, hayrides, kids activities and musical entertainment. Sunfest visitors can expect to see big names headlining the event including Tony Orlando, Wynonna &The Big Noise, Gin Blossoms and The Spin Doctors.
“The music is always playing and people are having a good time, it’s very unique to Ocean City,” said Jessica Waters, Ocean City’s communications manager.
According to Waters, more than 40 years ago a group of business owners wanted to create an event to keep people in Ocean City after the summer season ends. After a few years of hosting the event on the boardwalk, it became what is it today. At the start, Sunfest only had eight vendors.
“It’s very weather dependent, if we get a really good weekend, we have a great turnout,” Waters said. “Actually, last year I remember the weather being perfect and it was a record for us.”
Last years event saw 234,474 people, Waters added. The average number of people in attendance over the years is 175,299.
This year crowds can expect three different arts & crafts tents, jewelry vendors, food tents, entertainment and more.
